We have some great news for you this week! It’s been a long wait, but the comic book distribution system is gearing up for full operation by the end of the month. Assuming all goes well, by May 27th we should be able to offer you a full selection of new release titles from a variety of publishers.

We will still be operating with curbside pickup service on Wednesdays, 11am–2pm, and Saturdays, 11am–1pm, for the time being. (As we’ve said before, the well-being of our staff and customers is our highest priority.) We won’t be able to offer in-store shopping just yet, but we hope to expand our pickup hours in the upcoming weeks.

Hope this finds you well! Despite the rain and gloomy weather, we do have a little bit of uplifting news for you this week — working with a distribution arrangement with DC, we are able to offer a small but exciting selection of brand new releases this week at Wonderland Comics!

April 24th Update: Oldies But Goodies!

Hey, guys!

We hope everyone is well. All of us on the Wonderland crew miss seeing our great customers at the store every day. Let us know how you’re doing — we would be glad to hear from you!

Another thing we miss is getting new comic shipments each week. Don’t you as well? We’re very hopeful to have some news on that in the near future, but we have nothing definite yet… Keep your fingers crossed for some details soon.

On that mysterious note, while we’re waiting for new releases to resume, we have been busy restocking our oldies. You can look forward to a greater selection that ever when we’re able to open the doors again. (But you don’t have to wait to send us back issue requests. Email a want list anytime, and we’ll check in our bins for you.)

Speaking of restocking, here’s a quick peek at some new additions to our back issue selection:

If something catches your eye, don’t hesitate to ask! We’re happy to give you the lowdown regarding price, condition, and anything else you might be wondering about. The same goes for graphic novels, supplies, and games and activity kits as well. By getting requests in early, we can get you squared away for our next curbside pickup date on Saturday, April 25th, 11am–1pm.

April 20th Update: Back Issues & Educational Comics!

With new comic releases temporarily suspended, you may want to consider some of the thousands of back issues that we have in stock (many for $3.00 and less). Great reading, for great value! Take a look at a small sampling of what we have to offer:

Don’t see what your collection is missing? Want lists are welcome! Just send us an email with any requests, and we’ll do the hands-on hunting for you. Shipping is of course available, and our next curbside pick-up date is Wednesday, April 22nd, 11am–2pm. Get your orders in early, so that we can get your invoices ready to go; no muss, no fuss!

Hope this finds everyone well.

We have no updates on when new releases will resume, but remember we have a store full of back issues, trade paperbacks, and an extensive line of comic supplies. If you ever thought, “maybe I’ll get around to reading (insert title here) someday”, now might just be the time to start!

We’re offering curbside pickup for your prepaid orders on Wednesdays and Saturdays. Mailing your order straight to you is an option as well! Please send us an email with requests if there’s anything you need or you’d like us to check stock on.

April 2nd Update: Good Reading & Best Sellers!

We are happy to take orders for anything in stock, (it keeps us going until new releases are distributed again), but even if you don’t have any requests — please let us know how you are. The Wonderland staff cares about all of our customers, and we hope that you, and your loved ones, are well and staying safe!

Take a peek at a small selection that may interest you:

Don’t forget that our eBay store has a myriad of activity kits and family board games to help pass the time. We also have a great selection of supplies for protecting your comics; walls of graphic novels, trade paperbacks, and hardcovers; and an enormous back issue catalog to help fill holes in your collection. Just ask!

(Please note that without in-store shopping hours we won’t always be able to answer the phone, but we are always monitoring our email.)

Shipping is available to everyone, and we’re also currently able to arrange curbside pickup of prepaid orders on Wednesdays, 11am–2pm and Saturdays, 11am–1pm. Email us for any requests, an invoice, or more details.

Wonderland Comics Weekly Update

Hello all!

This “expected Next Week” news note is very different that usual, in keeping with the times….

Here is what we know at this time:

New comic distribution has been suspended. Diamond Comic Distributors cannot pack and ship out any new product, so there will be no new releases this coming week. Quite likely for some weeks ahead, please understand. This is not just for Wonderland, this is worldwide.

Our store has pre-ordered two months of product — all of the April and May new issues originally scheduled — so when the releases begin to flow you need have no worries that we will have everything that is available for you.

We are only certain that the shop must be “closed” as per the New York State PAUSE order. As much as we like ’em comics are not deemed “essential”. This means that there can be no in-store shopping, or employees working together in the store. (This would seem to make sense and is for our well being as well as yours.)

Orders that are paid for online can be safely shipped. We are happy to mail an order if you would like. (We would of course need your address for that.)

Hopefully, you can be encouraged to check out our eBay store for family games or kids’ activity kits, or we would certainly welcome orders for trade paperbacks (catch up on your reading!) or supplies (take care of your comics!) We can give you a PayPal invoice for any order.

Your business would certainly be appreciated (as it is always)! At this time it will greatly assist us to be able to keep the store viable until distribution of new comics renews.

Wayne (as owner, not as an employee) is willing to offer curbside pick up (just as the local Sherwin Williams, and Pet Supplies Plus are doing) for prepaid orders at specified times, but we are trying to receive legal assurance that this is allowed by the governor’s mandate.

We will certainly keep you updated, but let us know if you have any questions at any time. No one will be at the store on any regular basis to answer the phone, but we will be monitoring our email every day.

Thanks very much to all of you that have expressed and offered support during these eventful times. We have always been proud to be the store with the best customers! We wish you well, and encourage each of you to keep yourself and your loved ones safe.

The Best-Laid Plans…

Hello again, everyone,

As we’re sure you’re aware of by now, the “New York State on PAUSE” executive order is now in effect. Beyond requiring us to close our doors to in-person shopping, it would seem that the order also applies to our curbside pick-up plan as well.

Direct to You!

Instead, we’re working on the logistics of a “mail to you” system. We are offering to invoice you via PayPal and mail your automatic pulls, any specific new release requests, and any additional items you would like, directly to your doorstep. This includes things such as comic supplies, trade paperbacks, back issues, games, and science and activity kits. (If PayPal is NOT an option for you, please contact us so we can work out an alternate payment method.)

The outline at this point is that requested invoices would be sent out Tuesday evenings or Wednesday mornings, and shipping would take place on Wednesday afternoons. Any week that you will want an order shipped just let us know prior to Wednesday morning to allow us time to weigh, invoice, and pack your items.

Having your mailing address on file in advance would be helpful, so if you have an interest in this service, please feel free to email us now. Filing your address with us is not a commitment to receive a shipment, but it will expedite things if you opt for one.

The shipping cost would be nominal; some preliminary research shows that Priority shipping would be between $7.35 and $9.00 for 5 to 30 comics or 1 to 5 trade paperbacks.

To encourage you to give this a try — Wonderland will offer to cover the postage cost for any shipment through April 8th!

New Releases & Pulls!

Despite everything, at the moment we are expecting deliveries to arrive as previously scheduled and are ordering new product accordingly. We encourage all of our customers to keep tabs on the week’s releases via our Friday email or on our website. PreviewsWorld also has a comprehensive list of the newest releases, along with images and blurbs, for easy browsing. Let us know if you see something you want saved.

Speaking of Previews, did you know that they offer a complete online catalog for future releases as well? It’s never to early to start looking for the hottest new books for the summer — again, if you see something you’d like to preorder or add to your list, just ask.

Now is also the perfect time to do any pruning to your pull list. Whether it’s because of the current world situation or because you’ve simply lost interest in a title (or gained it!), please let us know as soon as possible if there are changes you’d like to make regarding your pulls. We’re happy to work with you to get your list where you want it.
