Hello, comic fans,

Once again we’d like to offer our thanks for joining us at our Spring 2018 Comic Book Show & Sale. We hope you had a fantastic time, found a great bargain in our fabulous selection of half-price trades and among our legendary $1.00 comic boxes, and finally scored that special issue you needed to fill a hole in your collection. Maybe you just enjoyed window shopping at the displays of rare comic book history or winning a raffle prize! No matter what thrilled you the most, seeing so many happy fans is what makes our hard work worth it.

Our next show will be in October 2018, with the exact date to be confirmed as soon as we have it pinned down. Please keep an eye on our Upcoming Events page for additional details and news on other happenings in the Rochester area comic scene! If you have any suggestions for what we can do better with our next show, or things that you thought worked particularly well, please don’t hesitate to send us feedback. We want to make this the best event we can for you, and your input is always welcome and appreciated.

Thank you so much to everyone who stopped by for Free Comic Book Day 2018 on Saturday. It was wonderful to see so many new and returning faces, and we hope you had a wonderful time! Now that you’ve had a small taste of what our shop has to offer, we’re happy to help with any additional questions you may have, in-person or via email.

Maybe you picked up a particular publisher’s sampler comic with a teaser for a series that intrigued you, or maybe that new DC or Marvel book reminded you of an old favorite that you’d like to re-read. Perhaps you’re unfamiliar with comics in general and would like some suggestions on where to start; or maybe that thrilling new movie sparked an interest in learning about a particular character (Thanos, we’re looking at you!). Maybe you’re looking for supplies to preserve your collection, or you’d like to set up a pull list so you never miss a single issue of that hot new title. Whatever it is, we can help.

If you liked what you experienced on Free Comic Book Day, don’t forget that our Spring 2018 Comic Book Show & Sale is less than two weeks away and coming up fast! Mark your calendars for Saturday, May 19th, 10am–4pm, and check our events page for more information. If you like sales, giveaways, and tons of awesome comics to feast your eyes on (and possibly add to your collection), this is the family-friendly show for you.

Are you ready, everyone?

We’ve been waiting for an entire year, but Free Comic Book Day is almost here — this Saturday, May 5th, 10am–5pm. Whether you’re a veteran of FCBD or a newbie, please take a moment to read up on the following details, so that you know what to expect this year:

What exactly is Free Comic Book Day?
For over fifteen years, stores world-wide have been celebrating “Free Comic Book Day” to promote reading and collecting comics. (If you’d like to read more about it, the official website is a good starting point.) Basically, we love comics and want to share that love with you!

When and where is it?
It’s this Saturday, May 5th, 10am–5pm, at Wonderland Comics in Penfield. Our doors will open to the public promptly at 10am; before that, you might see our lights on and staff moving about, but that’s because we will be busily setting up for your arrival. We appreciate your patience until we officially open.

Which comics are free?
Comic publishers have printed a diverse selection of comics — for all age groups and interests — specially for the Free Comic Book Day event, and we will have them available for you. We’ve also picked out a number of extra comic titles to add to the mix. To make it easy, we will have a designated table set up with the comics that are part of the promotion. (They are clearly marked with the blue “Free Comic Book Day” logo on the cover.) Our fantastic staff will be happy to help if you have any questions.

How many free comics can I have?
Every year, the awareness of and attendance on Free Comic Book Day have grown, and we anticipate this year will be the same. With that in mind, we want to make sure everyone is able to enjoy the event, so we ask that you please limit your choice to the one or two issues that you’re most excited to read.

Can I bring the kids?
Yes, absolutely. We pride ourselves on being a family-friendly store, and in fact we’ll have tons of comics designed just for younger readers. We also carry a wide range of science and activity kits, games, and books for kids, so there will be lots to look at. Bring the entire family!

Can I update my pull list while I’m there?
If you have changes to make to your list, please email us. Past experience has taught us that we should expect the day to be very busy. Emailing updates will ensure that we get to your requests correctly and efficiently. Thank you in advance for understanding!

Have you seen Avengers: Infinity War yet? We want to talk spoilers!
Please hold off on any spoilers for now — our staff has actually been so busy getting ready for Free Comic Book Day and our Comic Book Show & Sale on May 19th that we have not gotten a chance to see the movie yet. Be considerate of your fellow fans so that we can all enjoy any plot twists or surprises at our own pace. It’s appreciated!
